By Hailey Gates

"How much can you actually get paid taking surveys?" This is the question most people ask when they find out about the survey taking business. It all depends on how determined you are, just like any other job!

If you expect to get rich quick being paid taking surveys, you need to revise your expectations. There are people out there making a nice income off of paid surveys, but they have learned the tricks of the trade. If you are serious, you will do well - once you have paid your dues!

Some surveys are only available for people who fit a certain demographic - in other words, the companies are looking for feedback from people of a certain gender, age or ethnicity. Others are pretty much open to all. Still others need a cross section of participants for an equal representation.

Once you decide you want to get paid taking surveys, you will need to make sure you have all the tools you need. An internet connection is a given, and you will want a separate email address for all of your survey stuff. It's a good idea to keep a list of survey sites you sign up with, as well as one for the surveys you complete so you can make sure you get credit for them.

Before you are notified of surveys to take you will be asked to complete some profiles for the survey site. This will let them know what demographics you fit into. You may receive only a few surveys for the first week or so while they work on pre-qualifying you. Be patient; you will still be getting paid taking surveys and you can often receive bonuses for completing the profiles.

Starting amounts you can get paid taking surveys range from a dollar or two each for short ones to $20 or more for more involved surveys. As you become known as a strong participant in the survey market, you will start getting surveys to take that are more lucrative. You can also win prizes or drawings held by the survey site.

For the longer, more important surveys, you can make $20, $25 or even more. The amount goes up from there if you are willing to get paid taking surveys over the phone or in person. Once you have a reputation for being a professional survey taker, you will get offers for even more surveys to take.

As you watch your income grow, you will begin to see patterns emerge. As the number of surveys to take increases, you can pick and choose which ones to complete to earn the most money. Eventually you will be receiving so many invitations to get paid taking surveys you won't have to look for more! - 16069
