Registry and Hard Drive Cleaners, Do You Really Need Them

By Ed Lathrop

For some reason, there seems to be a cottage industry developing which is all about making registry cleaners seem useless or even worse, a waist of money. Why there are people out there telling stories about the evils of cleaning computer registries, I just don't know.

It just so happens I know from first hand experience registry cleaners do have an important role in the upkeep of today's computers. They should be used regularly and when they are not, a computer could slow down and die altogether.

You will read no technical jargon here. This is all about my business which is keeping home computers running the way they did when they were first taken out of the box. In other words, I am a computer technician and so, I will be talking from that perspective.

Customer Satisfaction

I know a registry cleaner has the potential to get a sick computer back on its feet. The way I know is I've actually seen it happen many, many times. I know from experience what registry corruption can do to a computer and have many satisfied customers because of the great work of a top notch registry cleaner.

There are no two ways about it, in today' computing world, corruption will find its way into the your computer's registry and the only way to get it out is to use a good registry cleaner. Period!

Windows 95 and 98 were not as abjectly effected by corruption as the operating systems we now use are. XP and Vista's huge file systems can be profoundly disturbed by registry corruption however, and in some cases it can even stop these operating systems cold. I know, I've seen it happen with my own eyes!

Reality Computing

I work on computers for a living. Would I recommend registry cleaners for no reason? Would I tell a good customer of mine to use one and then have him or her come back to me to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. Sure, if I was stupid! The truth is, I want to keep my good customers happy and I certainly, I do my best not to lead them astray.

Why there are those who have a vendetta against registry cleaners, I simply don't know. These people must have not ever used one. At least, not the ones I would use.

There is no harm that can be done by getting a registry scan on your computer. All the good ones offer a free scan. So, if you find no corruption, you're done. If you do find corruption and your computer isn't performing well, cleaning the registry will no doubt help cure your problem. If it doesn't, they have money back guarantees. So the way I see it, you can't go wrong using registry cleaners. They are an irreplaceable asset for your computer's health. - 16069
